STAFF at Crow Orchard school have decorated their school hall and classroom doors ready for the festive season.
The children arrived at the primary in School Lane and every class lined up outside and waited their turn to enter the building. Youngsters were then transported, via a snowflake portal, into a magical wintery wonderland.
All of the display boards had been changed to wintery scenes and the doors were covered with brightly coloured elves, reindeers, snowmen, penguins and presents!
After a hard year with Covid and lockdown, the school decided that it needed to make Christmas special this year. Later in the morning, the school had a visit from Santa who followed strict social distancing rules and even used ladders to knock on the windows and surprise the children.
Later in the day, all the children visited the ‘outside forest’ and were treated to an artificial, but very real, snowstorm.
Every child received a photograph of them wrapped up standing in front of the trees in the snow.
All in all, said a school spokesperson, the children loved it. “Everything was a surprise, as they didn’t know what was going to happen.
“Some of the quotes from the children included: ‘Wow! It is amazing’; ‘It’s just like real snow! I feel like I’m in the North Pole’; and ‘Yeah, it’s Santa and his wife!’
Mrs Heath deputy head added: “It was magical to bring joy and happiness to the children in what has been a difficult term in school.
“They are really missing singing carols and working hard on the Christmas productions that we have had to miss this year. Hopefully this makes up for it”
Miss Hedges - headteacher said: “The children’s faces were a picture!
“They were so surprised!
“Santa was fabulous, with his trusty Mrs Claus in tow too and the winter forest brought much joy when the snow arrived!
“It was such a magical day!”
