Football club helps the community over festive period

Southport Football Club Community Foundation have been continuing to work hard behind the scenes to help the local community.

Throughout the Christmas holidays, the foundation managed to deliver 60 full Christmas hampers to vulnerable families in the borough facilitated fully by a band of dedicated volunteers.

A spokesperson said: “A huge thanks must go to Steven Rimmer Eggs and Bates Dairy who provided fresh produce for the hampers.

“Funding has been secured through the LCR Cares COVID-19 community support fund and this has been spent on purchasing more than 1,000 activity packs and wellbeing packs that can be delivered to families across the community.

“Packs include a range of art therapy and fitness programmes with pens and skipping ropes to accompanying them to ensure everyone can participate. With the announcement that schools will be closed until February, it is more important than ever that young people are kept active both physically and mentally and we hope these packs will assist families in helping their children continue to live an active lifestyle.”
