Locals urged to sign up for Rock ‘n’ Roll run in Liverpool

by Tom Martin (January 2021)

The British Red Cross are calling on local businesses to sign-up a team for the Rock ‘n’ Roll half-marathon in Liverpool to raise money for the charity, which helps people in the UK and overseas get the life-changing support they need when crisis strikes.

Organised by the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series, it is an iconic, sell-out marathon and half marathon across Liverpool city centre, taking place on the 29 – 30 May 2021.

It has become a firm favourite for many runners. The British Red Cross have their own discounted charity places for this event, however these are limited and first come, first serve so it is advised to book your places as soon as possible.

In Merseyside, more than 6,700 people make regular donations to the charity to help fund its work and many more make one-off donations, donate items to one of the charity’s six Merseyside-based charity shops or get sponsored to do events such as the Liverpool Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon.

Charis Priestly-Bird, British Red Cross community fundraising manager in Merseyside, said: “We are incredibly excited about this event. Getting involved with the Red Cross gives you so many ways to use your kindness to help people in crisis. Every step you take could be helping a family made homeless by a house fire, someone who needs to borrow a wheelchair to stay independent after an accident and refugees and asylum seekers who need help settling into their new community or making contact with loved ones.”

To find out more about how to sign up, contact Charis Priestly-Bird on 07711 189085 or email cpriestly-bird@redcross.org.uk. To find out more about the work of the British Red Cross in the UK and overseas, visit redcross.org.uk.
