Neptune Brewery win two awards - despite lockdown problems!

by Tom Martin (February 2021)

Neptune Brewery, in Maghull, has been named the best Merseyside Brewery by the RateBeer Awards 2021.

Not only that, but one of their popular beers, Mosaic, won the award for Best Beer in Merseyside.

A spokesperson said: “It's great to know that consumers are enjoying our quality beers and it makes all the hard work worthwhile. We’ve had so many lovely comments via social media and personally, which is uplifting.

“The various lockdowns over the past 12 months has been hard and significantly affected the hospitality industry and its suppliers, such as ourselves, but we’ve adapted our business.

“In April 2020 during the first lockdown we launched a Crowdfund campaign, which was really successful and we were humbled by the support. We offered a pledge where people could purchase bar tabs to redeem against takeaway beers or drinks when we can re-open.

“We developed our web store in June, www.neptunebrewery.com/store, which now enables customers from around the country to purchase our beers. This has proved to be a great way of getting our products out, and means we can still supply our regular customers and we are also getting many new ones. We also operate a free local delivery service for L and PR8/9 postcodes.

“The brewery is open of a Friday (currently 3pm - 6pm) for takeout draught beer and cans. We have recently purchased our own canning line, which is helping us get more choice of beers out to consumers, and this is going well.

“Receiving any award is wonderful at any time, but it’s great to get something positive out of what has been a tough 12 months. 2020 was meant to be a big year for us as a business, as it was our fifth birthday and also the first anniversary of our taproom being open - but unfortunately due to the pandemic - we weren’t able to celebrate as we had hoped. But we are looking forward to a more positive 2021!

“To win these awards and be recognised for what we do is really fantastic, and is a great boost to the team.”
