Plans for 44 retirement living apartments in Maghull moved a step closer after they were recommended for approval by planning officers of Sefton Council.
The proposals by McCarthy Stone, a developer and manager of retirement communities, would see the former Maghull Royal British Legion redeveloped into apartments near the Leeds & Liverpool canal.
McCarthy Stone claim they have received support so far from the local community, including sales enquiries from residents who would like to move into the development off Liverpool Road South, should it be approved by Sefton Council.
Ian Wilkins, Divisional Managing Director at McCarthy Stone, said: “We are delighted that our proposals for 44 Retirement Living apartments have been recommended for approval by Sefton Council.
“This site is well located to provide high-quality Retirement Living accommodation, close to the many amenities that Maghull has to offer. We were pleased we could continue to inform and engage with the local community so successfully whilst adhering to the government’s advice on Covid-19.
“It is clear from our consultation process that the local community recognises the need to improve the housing choice for older people in Sefton and we look forward to presenting the application to councillors next week.”
