Pets at Home in Southport targeted by burglars

Pets at Home in Southport targeted by burglars

by Tom Martin (February 2021)

Burglars targeted the Pets at Home store in Southport last night.

Police were contacted at 8.50pm on Monday 22nd February following reports that four males had forced entry to the store on Marine Parade and carried out an untidy search.

They also entered the Vets4Pets business within the store and stole a quantity of cash and veterinary drugs before making their escape in a black Ford Fiesta.

A safe containing the drugs was later found burnt out on the car park of Dobbies Garden centre on Bentham’s Way in Southport.

An investigation is underway and CCTV and forensic enquiries have been carried out in the local area.

Detective Chief Inspector Gayle Rooney said: “I would appeal to anyone who was in the area of Marine Parade at 9pm last night who saw or heard anything suspicious to contact us.

“I would also ask anyone who was driving in the area to check their dash-cam in case they captured anything significant.”

Anyone with information is asked to DM @MerPolCC or @CrimestoppersUK on 0800 555 111.
