Tributes have been paid to a popular member of the Maghull community, who has sadly passed away.
Ted Birch died on February 8th at the age of 88-years-old, and his family have thanked locals for their heartfelt messages.
He was best known for his fruit and veg shop, on Moorhey Road, which he owned with his beloved wife Maud for 19 years.
His daughter, Nicky, said: “My dad was our superhero and a much loved gentleman in Maghull. Most might remember him from Maud and Ted’s fruit and veg shop on Moorhey Road that they owned for 19 years or as the local joiner or just because he crossed your path at some time and made you laugh.
“I now know after hearing so many lovely messages he never failed to make you laugh and leave you with a smile – what a gift!
“We miss him so much, every second of every day. I’d like to thank everyone for the overwhelming amount of love we have received. The cards, flowers, gifts and stories shared from so very many and thank you all for supporting us throughout, especially these last few difficult years.
“I’d also like to thank The Beeches Parkhaven for the care and love they continue to give mum and also to all of dad’s carers from right at home who brought sunshine into his home everyday.
“Dad lived and loved life. He always joked when we’d pay him a compliment. I think he truly broke the mould.”
