West Lancashire MP Rosie Cooper has warmly welcomed the removal of the scaffolding on Bridge Street footpath.
The MP claimed that for many years, the retaining wall of the Bridge Street apartments development had been leaning dangerously with temporary scaffolding propping it up and blocking footpath access.
Residents sought MP Cooper’s help in having the path cleared, but the process was very long winded with disputes over responsibility.
Rosie Cooper MP said: “It has been a long battle but once again the pathway is clear for use by residents, including those with prams, buggies and wheelchair users.
“The scaffolding that was in place for so many years was an eyesore and an obstruction but there was no quick fix with the danger of the wall collapsing.
“Despite this, it was un acceptable and unfair on local residents who had to put up with this situation for so long, but I am pleased we have finally seen the completion of the works and the area does look in much better shape now.”
