POLICE were called to the Scarisbrick Hotel after a far-right group staged a protest over asylum seekers staying there.
A five minute video was shared online by Britain First, which was widely condemned on social media, showing a group of people enter the Lord Street hotel, despite being told not to by staff.
The footage then shows the ‘activists’ asking people where they are from and how long they have been at the hotel.
It is believed that up to 150 asylum seekers are currently staying at the hotel, which is being funded by the Home Office.
Merseyside Police confirmed that officers were called to the hotel. A spokesperson said: “Members of the organisation were spoken with and left the building a short time later. No arrests were made or criminal offences identified.
“Officers were present to prevent any breach of the peace and to support the hotel staff and residents.”
