A young singer-songwriter from Litherland has released a new song as he continues his pursuit of breaking into the mainstream music scene.
Jake Harper, 19, has self-written and produced ‘(Never) Happy’, which he describes as a poetic ballad.
It’s on the back of his first ever EP, entitled ‘Written In My Room’, which was released last year and landed within the top 20 of iTunes UK’s singer/songwriter charts.
Jake said: “My new single, (Never) Happy, is what I’d describe as a poetic ballad and was kind of the product of experimentation. I loved the idea of layering a lot of vocals together to create that deep textured sound that you hear in the intro and choruses and am really excited that it’s out there.
“I wrote a lot of stuff through lockdown and in 2020 in general and put out an EP called Written In My Room in September. Since then, I’ve been focusing on trying to build a bit of a following on social media, trying to post covers of other songs as often as I can!”
Singing has been a huge part of his life from a young age and he performed throughout his childhood and found himself covering well-known pop and soul tracks on YouTube and Instagram.
