Care home residents from Burscough have been enjoying their new sensory garden.
Lily Wharf Lodge, which first opened its doors last year, has a new sensory garden with space for outdoor exercise and themed sections to reflect the local area.
The smell of flowers, the sound of the birds and the taste of freshly grown fruit and vegetables are just a few benefits associated with sensory gardens that provide therapeutic, inspiring and calming qualities.
The garden contains a ‘Farm Life’ area, which features straw bales and tractor tyres, as well as a small outdoor greenhouse that homes several strawberry plants, herbs and flowers.
The care home also teamed up with members of the local community to help incorporate Burscough's rich heritage into the garden.
