Can you give a home to ‘80-year-old’ Sweep?

CAN you give a home to an elderly dog who loves trips in the car and snoozing on the sofa?

Yorkshire terrier Sweep, who is 16  (or 80 in dog years) -  ended up in the care of the  RSPCA Southport, Ormskirk & District branch  in October after his owner passed away  and has been enjoying life in his foster home but is now ready to find a permanent home to live out his retirement.

Ellen Dobson, from the animal centre, said: “Sweep is an absolute delight and is utterly adorable. He may be an older boy but he’s young at heart and is surprisingly alert and spritely given his age.

“He enjoys going out for walks - long or short - and loves to have a sniff and snuffle around the garden. He loves going for trips out in the car and exploring new places.

“He adores spending time with people and is quite content snuggling up on the sofa, and he enjoys watching the world go by out the window.”

Sweep is looking for a home with adults or older teenage children where he’ll be the only pet. Staff believe he’ll be best suited to a home with a single person as he can become quite attached to one individual quickly.

He requires regular grooming but is quite happy being brushed and bathed. He is house-trained and is quite happy being left home alone for short periods.
