THE team at a Southport-based business are helping young people get a foot on the retail career ladder thanks to the Government’s Kickstart scheme.
Internet based company Modo Creations, which was set up in 2019, and now has three premises in the region, was one of the first Kickstart employers in Merseyside. Employment Minister Mims Davies was invited to meet owner Brad Ridgewell and the team behind the fashion and accessories company by Southport MP Damien Moore at their premises Hesketh Mount on Lord Street. The Minister spoke with a number of young workers at the company working on businesses including a bakery, Amazon fulfilment and a new start-up clothing brand.
Minister for Employment, MP Mims Davies said: “It was fantastic to be in Southport and see first-hand how Modo Creations is brilliantly backing this Government’s Kickstart Scheme – creating jobs in the local community and helping our next generation of workers develop the skills, experience and confidence needed to thrive in work.
“This is happening right across the country and every day our Plan for Jobs is supporting jobseekers into work as we push to build back better.”
Thanking the Minister for her visit, Damien Moore added: “I’d like to thank the minister for coming along to see what is a great retail success story for us here in Southport. I know Brad Ridgewell has worked closely with the Department for Work and Pensions to become a real ambassador of the Kickstart scheme with the aim of supporting young people into a range of job opportunities with Modo Creations.”
