by Danielle Thompson (June 2021)

THE challenges of teaching during the pandemic were explored by Southport MP Damien Moore on a recent visit to Marshside Primary School.

He was invited to visit the school by new headteacher Natasha Sandland, who started her appointment during this challenging time.

He was given a tour of the school before meeting Natasha Sandland to talk about issues during the pandemic and the school’s plans to expand student numbers in the coming years.

It was the first school Mr Moore has been able to visit since February 2021.

He said: “I would like to thank Mrs Sandland for inviting me to visit Marshside Primary School. I enjoyed speaking to the teachers and pupils and learning more about the schools upcoming projects, including their efforts to build a new learning hub that will benefit both pupils and the wider community.

“The last twelve months have been incredibly difficult period and I would like to put on record my gratitude to Mrs Sandland and all the teachers and support staff at Marshside Primary School for their hard work and resolve during the pandemic.

“As lockdown restrictions continue to ease, I am looking forward to visiting many more schools and organisations across the constituency.”

Natasha Sandland added: “I would like to thank Damien Moore MP for visiting Marshside Primary School. It was reassuring to know our MP is actively visiting schools across our town and is willing to have an open and honest discussion about teachers’ experiences during the pandemic.”
