VOLUNTEERS at the Evermoor Foodbank in Skelmersdale have started a band and recorded an England football song to raise money for charity and to support the national team who started their Euro 2020 campaign with a win against Croatia on Sunday.
Gary Ferguson is one of the people behind the group, which is called Brian & The White Lightning and the idea is to put smiles on people’s faces.
It was Brian Scaife’s idea to start the band. The song is called Dance With Bobby Moore and has been co-written by Gary Ferguson and Joseph Kirkbride.
Johnny Tang filmed and edited the video and the Skem-Men-Aces, and other volunteers from the Evermoor Hub feature in it.
They aim to collect £10,000 with funds going to Evermoor Foodbank and to help provide Skem Men-Aces disability football team with a new football kit.
Gary said: “We started the musical project a few months back. As Brian volunteer for the local food bank, we decided to release music to raise funds in support of the amazing work they do for our community.
“We have recorded an England football song about hope and ‘Keeping the dream alive.’
“Teaming up with the Skem Men-Aces football team, we have created a music video to captivate the spirit of the nation.
“The Skem Men-Aces are arguably the most successful disabled football team in the country, and an absolutely smashing group of lads.
“Our dream is raise enough money as possible to support the fantastic Evermoor Foodbank and help provide Skem Men-Aces with a new football kit.
“Anything residents can kindly donate to this special cause would be greatly appreciated by everybody involved.
“We really hope you enjoy the video, sing along, dance along, support your local cause.”
