Woman robbed at knifepoint on bridge

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a woman was robbed at knifepoint in Burscough.

The incident took place on Liverpool Road North, on the bridge between Mill Lane and Victoria Street at 11.45am on Monday (July 12).

A woman was walking across the bridge when she was approached by a man wearing a white motorcycle helmet and a light grey top.

He was carrying a knife and demanded her shopping bag.

The victim handed it over and a second person, riding a motorcycle, pulled up on the bridge, with the first offender jumping on the back of the motorbike.

The pair then made off and turned left down Mill Lane.

Police are appealing for information, in particular anyone who saw the offenders described.

Det Sgt Liz Martin, of Ormskirk Police, said: “We would like to reassure the public that this was an isolated incident and are appealing to any witnesses who saw what happened to help us with finding the offenders.”
