A MURAL has been unveiled which honours social care work in Southport.
The 24ft by 20ft artwork, which is a ‘tribute to care workers and the incredible Delta Care Ltd Southport staff who have worked throughout the pandemic’ is on display now at the home care company’s offices on Tulketh Street.
The individuals that are featured in the mural are, from left: care co-ordinator Sue Birtles; recruitment and admin officer Caitlin Ahern; home care assistant Thomas Birtles, who won Delta Care Carer of the Year Award; home care assistants Abby B and Jane Smale; operations director Adam Baki, with late service user Gwen Shipman.
It was painted by artist Rob Newbiggin, who has previously painted murals celebrating the NHS and its staff and Captain Sir Tom Moore on Anthony James Estate Agents Hoghton Street.
A spokesperson for Delta Care said: “The mural is honouring the wonderful work of social care in Southport.
“It is a tribute to care workers and our incredible Delta Care Staff who have worked throughout the pandemic.
“It expresses our gratitude towards the office staff who have work hard behind the scenes and of course the community heroes who work on the frontline, continuously delivering the best possible care to our service users.
“The beach scene is a good representation of the town we live in.
“The family culture of our business is reflected in the image of the young family.
“As well as symbolises the circle of life and that we provide care to anyone of any age.”
Rob Newbiggin added: “The mural is created with acrylic paint and the portraits really display a happy showing of people's characters, but having said that it all works really well and love the whole mural’s appeal.”
