A MOTHER and daughter pageant duo have raised more than £5,000 for charity – and are now set to compete in the Pure International Pageant competition in America next year.
Southport Hospital Healthcare Assistant Sherie Bajinka, 51, has competed in three pageants whereas her daughter Siah, 14, has been competiting in pageants for the last seven years.
They have raised £5,079 for the Salvation Army with Sherie Winning the Pure United Kingdom Charity title and then went on to win the Pure United Kingdom National Classy MS contest which was held in Warrington over a weekend in June. Siah previously won the Pure International Young Miss United Kingdom last January but due to covid restrictions was unable to compete in Ohio in The Pure international Pageant last July and has now become Pure United Kingdom Junior Teen Great Britain.
Sherie said: “We raised £5079 for the Salvation Army and now we will both be competing Ohio USA in June 2022 in the Pure International Pageant and hope to bring the International crown home to the U.K
“As well as fundraising we have been active in our community helping with donations to Southport Foodbank by making weekly donations whilst doing our weekly shop and Easter eggs to the Cornerstone Methodist Church, Marshside for children’s activity packs and keeping the environment clean by litter picking on Formby and Southport Beach, Kew Woods and Kew Estate.
“We have also been collecting unwanted items to ship in a container to the Gambia to give to less fortunate people and have set up our own charity called the Bo Foundation to help a village school and clinic in the Gambia.
“We are looking for any donations or business sponsorship to help us with our costs of dresses, jewellery, hair and makeup, hotel and flights or any donations towards our charity collections for the Gambia.”
