MAGHULL Folk Club is ready to open its doors again on September 7 after the shut down, at the newly refurbished Maghull Community Centre in Green Lane Maghull, Liverpool L31 2JH.
Also known as Maghull Folk & Acoustic, it has been running since 1973 at various venues in Maghull.
Singers, musicians and poets are most welcome and if people don’t sing or play an instrument, they can just come along to listen. There is also a licenced bar.
A spokesman for Maghull Folk Club said: “We are a friendly group and the variety of music always ensures an entertaining evening. The club is situated on the ground floor of the MCA and is wheelchair accessible with a sizeable carpark.
“Most Tuesdays are ‘singers nights’ where singers and performers are invited to do a few songs, tunes or poems.
“The evening is run as open mic style and once a month we have an informal sing-around without the microphone.
“We have celebrity guest evenings where we invite nationally known artists to perform plus occasional spotlight performances by members who are confident to perform a 45 minute set. We also welcome singers from other clubs who are invited to do an extended performance.
“So, if you fancy popping along on any Tuesday evening from September 7, you'll be made most welcome. Entry is just £2 which includes a raffle ticket. Celebrity guest evenings are ticketed.”
The club starts at 8pm and finishes at 10.40pm on Tuesdays unless otherwise stated.
The club’s web site also lists the club diary of events and additional information, http://www.maghullfolkclub.co.uk. There is also a Facebook page : The Maghull Folk Club.
