TO welcome people back to St Anne’s Church, in Ormskirk, after the temporary closure due to the pandemic, parishioners, families, friends and neighbours are invited to a fun day event on Saturday, September 11.
Held in the parish grounds, the day will start at 12noon with an outdoor Mass on the bowling green to remember the Golden Jubilee of Priesthood of Fr. Godric and the Silver Jubilee of Deacon Des’s ordination as Deacon and many events it was not possible to celebrate during the various lockdowns.
The Mass will be followed by a ‘bring your own picnic’ (bring your own garden chairs please) and then, from about 1pm, the fun events start!
The church’s musicians will entertain those that attend and provide some tuition for the children.
The youngsters can take part in five-a-side football coaching on the meadow while the adults can browse the stalls there.
A special tombola has been arranged with some fun prizes.
The new Tree Trail will take visitors around the church grounds and there will be family activities including how to make a ‘Bug Hotel’ at the environment stall.
A spokesperson for St Anne’s said: “The Church of St Anne is a lovely place and tours have been arranged. Now is the opportunity to see the church which will be decorated with special flower arrangements and to find out more of its history.”
Tea and coffee will be available in the Parish Centre where there will be exhibitions of photographs of times past in St Anne’s Church and of Ormskirk, along with flower arranging displays.
The welcome back event will close at 5pm.
The spokesperson added: “This fun event is open to all friends of St Anne’s Church - not just parishioners, so please come and join us on Saturday, September 11 where you’ll be warmly welcomed.”
