Man spat at woman at station then threw rock at another passenger

Man spat at woman at station then threw rock at another passenger

by Tom Martin (September 2021)

A MAN spat at a woman at Seaforth and Litherland railway station before walking onto the tracks to grab a rock to attack another passenger.

Officers from the British Transport Police are investigating the violent incident which started with a man and woman involved in an “altercation” on the platform.

The man spat in her face, which prompted another man to intervene.

At this point, the attacker walked off the edge of the platform in order to pick up a “piece of railway ballast” from the track.

He then returned to the platform and used the rock as a weapon, striking the man several times on the head before leaving the station.

The victim suffered a large cut to the head and bruising.

Officers believe the man in the CCTV image may have information which could help their investigation.

It happened just before midnight on Monday, August 2.
