A MOTORIST has admitted causing the death of a mum-of-two in Thornton by careless driving in a collision in 2019.
Margaret Thornton, 50, was fatally injured in the incident in early hours of November 30, 2019.
She was struck by a blue Audi Q7 on Moor Lane near the junction with Edge Lane in Thornton shortly after being dropped off by a black hackney cab.
Sheikh Burhan Miah, of Burbo Crescent, Blundellsands, pleaded guilty on Monday, September 6 at Liverpool Magistrates’ Court to causing her death by driving without due care and attention.
District Judge James Hatton adjourned the case for a pre-sentence report and Miah was further remanded on bail to await sentence on October 21 at Sefton Magistrates’ Court.
The judge imposed an interim driving disqualification on Miah, who was accompanied by two supporters.
Many tributes were paid on social media after the victim’s death including one saying, “This is awful. I'm so sorry. I'm glad the driver actually stopped. Many don't.
“This junction is a nightmare at the best of times.”
