A NINE year old from Upholland is set to tackle the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge with a group of friends and family members to raise funds for charity.
Willow Maddy Kirkpatrick, who attends St Thomas the Martyr School in Upholland, came up with the idea herself to raise funds for the Macmillan Cancer Support charity as “everyone knows someone who has been affected by the disease.”
The group, ranging in ages from eight to adult, will take part on the fundraiser, which they have named Willow’s Walk, on Sunday, September 26.
Her proud mum, Natasha, said: “We are set to arrive early morning around 6am to set off on the 12 hour walk!
“Willow wants to do this walk because she said everybody knows somebody who has or has had cancer and has suffered because of it, she wants to raise as much money as she can to do something nice for charity.
“Friends and family who want to show support but are unable to do the walk will be waiting at the end to cheer everyone on at the finish line and we will be letting off balloons for our loved ones who have been affected by this awful disease.
“She is keen to carry on doing as much as she can for charity. I am a very proud mum.”
