CALLS have been made to lower the speed limit on a busy road in Burscough after a serious crash last weekend involving multiple vehicles.
Emergency services were called to Moss Lane, near the Fat Italian restaurant, to reports of an RTC on Saturday, September 11 at around 8pm.
North West Ambulance Service said a woman in her sixties was taken to hospital and Lancashire Police arrested a 24-year-old man from Ormskirk on suspicion of drink driving. He was also taken to hospital.
The crash involved multiple cars and destroyed two garden walls next to the accident.
A local resident believes the speed limit on Moss Lane needs to be reduced.
He told the Champion: “Apparently the lad responsible was speeding, overtook cars and clipped a kerb.
“Two walls were demolished and he ended up 150 yards up the road, hitting another car taking its front end off and almost forcing it into a house.
“A lady who had been driving on opposite side of the road went off in an ambulance. She was injured but not too seriously.
“Moss Lane is a 30mph road. It then moves to 50mph despite there being homes on both sides of the road.
“It’s bad enough when lorries zoom past at 50mph but a lot of cars seem to think they can go 60, 70 or even 80mph.”
