A NEW weekly community hub is opening at Emmanuel Methodist United Reformed Church, Derby Street, Ormskirk on Thursdays from 10am-3pm, starting on Thursday, October 7.
The hub will be run by a team of volunteers and anyone is welcome to call in for a cuppa and a chat.
Rev Sue Guénault, minister at Emmanuel Methodist United Reformed Church said: “We fully appreciate how the pandemic has affected us all in differing ways over past months, and the isolation felt by many people. We hope to offer a safe space where folks can find a warm welcome and conversation.”
Alongside the opening of the hub a new craft club will be starting at the church from 10am-12noon every Thursday and is free for anyone who wants to bring along their own craft project (card making, knitting, embroidery, etc) and have a cuppa and chat while crafting.
The hub will also be enjoyed by the Thursday ‘Move it or Lose it’ exercise class members. Margaret Wilkinson, ‘Move it or Lose it’ exercise instructor said: “I’m thrilled for my class members as they’ll now be able to enjoy a hot drink and continue socialising with other folks after their exercise session. ‘Move it or Lose it’ classes are not only a fun way for older adults to stay active, they’re also about socialising and making new friends and the community hub is a perfect place to facilitate this.”
