A BREWERY in Maghull has raised £300 for Sefton Women’s and Children’s Aid after launching a new beer.
Neptune Brewery, based in Maghull, unveiled new beverage Sangfroid at an event on Saturday, October 2.
It has been created as part of a project to highlight women in the beer industry and to raise awareness and funds for SWACA, which supports victims of domestic abuse.
The beer, brewed by Neptune co-owner Julie O’Grady and Beer & Sales Experience Manager Chess Slattery, is a 3% Small IPA and is named Sangfroid meaning composure shown in trying circumstances.
Neptune’s taproom was full of happy drinkers on the launch day, keen to enjoy the beer and support a good cause, with the first keg of the beer selling out in just a few hours.
A proportion of all Sangfroid sales on the day, along with money donated by customers in SWACA’s collection tins, has so far raised £300.
SWACA will remain Neptune’s charity partner for the whole month of October, with signposting literature and collection tins displayed in the taproom each Saturday.
Julie O’Grady said: “It was fantastic to see how much people were enjoying the beer on Saturday and to welcome so many new faces to the taproom, along with our regular customers.
“People were very generous with their donations and we hope together we can raise more this month for such an important cause.”
Sandra Blower and Sue Platt from SWACA attended the launch.
They said: “We were delighted that a local, female-led company chose SWACA as their charity partner and we are united in our shared passion and determination to support women.
“Thank you to everyone who has donated through this project so far - the money raised will make a positive difference to the women and children we support.”
Sangfroid will be on general sale in pubs and beer shops from this week and customers can purchase cans to enjoy at home direct from Neptune’s taproom or from their online webshop https://neptune-brewery.myshopify.com
Every can of Sangfroid has a QR code on the back to enable drinkers to learn more about the valuable services of SWACA and make a real difference by donating.
