A SPECIAL matron has been given an award after 50 years of continuous nursing!
Elaine Williams, matron at Birkdale Park Nursing Home, on Lulworth Road, was presented with a certificate of recognition for 50 years of continuous nursing service from the Nursing and Midwifery Council by Merseyside Lord Lieutenant Mark Blundell at the home last week.
The Nursing and Midwifery Councilis an independent regulator for nurses, midwives and nursing associates.
Jonathan Cunningham, registered care manager at the home said: “We are immensely proud of our home matron Elaine. This is an incredible award that we had to appropriately recognise her immense achievement.
“Huge thanks and appreciation to Mark Blundell the Merseyside Lord Lieutenant for agreeing to make the presentation to Elaine. She is a wonderful nurse and everyone loves her! Congratulation Elaine.
“Elaine started her nursing career in 1971 as a nursing cadet working on Southport Spinal Wards at Southport Promenade Hospital.
She has worked in hospitals and multiple care homes and her passion is end of life palliative care and she has a particular interest in wounds management.
“She has been at Birkdale Park Nursing Home for many years and has promised to remain for another 50 years! Well done to her, the world needs more Elaines.”
