Church bakes and brews to help raise more than £1,600 for Macmillan Coffee Morning

by Henry James (October 2021)

A WEST Lancashire church hosted a Macmillan Coffee Morning - offering cakes and cuppas - to help raise £1,600 for people affected by cancer.

Christ Church Ministry Centre, Long Lane, Aughton, hosted the fundraiser, which saw more than 100 people attend and enjoy a variety of tasty treats.

Parishioners, volunteers who work at the Christ Church Café, Macmillan service users and the local community baked and donated cakes to help raise £1,600 for the cancer charity. The event was organised by Lisa Matthews, Vicky Sime, Rev Sarah O’Donoghue and Jodie Taylor at the church, which also hosts Macmillan’s Aughton Cancer Support Group.

The group, which is aimed at anyone affected by cancer, either directly or as a carer, colleague, family member or friend, in Aughton, Ormskirk and the surrounding area, is hoping to restart again in 2022.
