Chef earns his crust winning eight prizes at British Pie Awards!

A CHEF in Waterloo earned his crust after bringing home eight awards from The British Pie Awards 2021!

Lee Caffery, who owns Pullman Jack’s, on Ferndale Road, swept up at the recent awards held at  Melton Mowbray, in Leicestershire,  thanks to his pie-making skills.

Some of the categories he won included a Gold award for a cherrywood smoked pulled pork and bury black pudding, as well as a Silver award for a tandoori chicken and bombay potato.

Lee also made history as the first pie-maker based in Liverpool to achieve the ‘Class’ award and the ‘Newcomer’ award.

He said: “I was delighted to win the Newcomer award along with many of my pies winning individual awards too.

“There were 813 pies entered so to achieve the recognition I received is a true testament to my hard work and my products and I am looking forward to growing my business nationally now too.”

For the last ten years, Lee has worked as a ‘tour chef’ travelling the world, organising tour kitchens, and cooking for some of the biggest names in show business, such as Sir Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen and Eric Clapton.

Lee opened Pullman  Jack’s in Waterloo in March 2020, a week before the country went into lockdown, and it soon became popular throughout the pandemic.

The business offers a wide selection of freshly baked pies, side dishes and desserts. They also have vegan options.
