SOUTHPORT band ‘Johnny R and Bargain Blooze’ have joined forces with the Ship and Anchor pub to support The Big Gig.
The Big Gig is a campaign organised by Greater Manchester Rock Radio to raise awareness for unemployed musicians and hospitality staff who lost their jobs as a consequence of their extended lockdown.
At the height of lockdown, more than 600,000 musicians and venue staff across the country found themselves out of work.
When they were eventually allowed to return, they found that many venues had closed.
The band teamed up with Steve Riding, landlord at the Ship and Anchor, on Cable Street, to offer their support to the Big Gig. This is a UK-wide live music event which will see hundreds of venues host synchronised, simultaneous gigs at 7.30pm this Saturday (October 16) to tempt people back into venues and prevent them from closing for good.
Southport ‘became Hollywood for a day as the stars of Southport’s music and biker scene came together’ to shoot the music video for the band’s single, ‘Whiskey Jim’ at the Ship and Anchor.
