A MAN who is currently in prison for sending death threats to MPs, including Rosie Cooper, has been handed a further sentence for sending more to Jess Phillips.
In 2020, Rakeem Malik was sentenced after threatening the Birmingham Yardley MP Jess Phillips, threatening to bomb Rosie Cooper and eating Theresa May.
Malik has now been given a further five-year prison sentence and it will run consecutively to his existing five-year jail term.
Following sentencing Ms Phillips tweeted: “A man who was already in prison for threatening to kill me and others was today sentenced to a further 10 years for continuing to threaten me. Our democracy is under constant attack.”
She added that Malik’s letters had been intercepted.
Malik’s appearance for sentencing at Birmingham Crown Court was via video-link. He had admitted making a threat to kill, two counts of sending letters with threats and breaching a criminal behaviour order.
His licence has been extended for five-years and he has been put on a restraining order.
