Maghull community clean up hailed a success

Maghull community clean up hailed a success

by Henry James (November 2021)

A COMMUNITY clean up with the Mayoress of Sefton Cllr Clare Carragher, Labour Councillors Marion Atkinson, Paula Murphy from Molyneux and Cllr James Hansen from Sudell ward took place recently in Maghull.

Danny Burns, chair of Molyneux Labour party, organised the event and included the idea of replacing the tired looking ‘bag it bin it’ stickers after speaking to residents.

Danny said: “We have been carrying out litter picks in Molyneux ward which covers Maghull, Aintree and Melling for nearly 10 years.

“We are in regular contact with our neighbouring wards, and we work on lots of things together with ward Councillors and this was another opportunity to pool resources and make a difference for our residents.

Cllr Hansen said: “It was great to get out with our friends from Molyneux ward and speak to lots of residents on our clean up. We had so many positive comments and offers of help and support for future clean ups. We will certainly be taking people up on the offer.”

Cllr Paula Murphy added: “I sound like a broken record on this but it’s really important to me as a Councillor and a resident of Molyneux ward that we keep the area we live in clean and tidy. There are lots of local people doing great work such as litter picks, so please get involved if you can and help us keep our communities litter free.”

Councillor Marion Atkinson can be contacted on 07547 045079 if you would like to get involved in future initiatives.
