COMMUNITIES in West Lancashire paid tribute on Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day to those who have lost their lives serving the country.
Armistice Day tributes took place on November 11 followed by Remembrance Sunday commemorations across the Borough on November 14.
In 2020, Covid-19 restrictions forced the cancellation of the traditional parades and services and residents were instead asked to pay their respects by observing a two minute silence wherever they were, creating a remembrance space in their gardens and donating to the Royal British Legion's Poppy Appeal. This year there was a welcome return to the traditional parades and gatherings where everyone was invited to join together to mark these important occasions.
There were Remembrance Sunday Services (November 14) at Aughton; Burscough; Halsall; Lathom; Ormskirk; Skelmersdale; and Up Holland.
There were Armistice Day Services on Thursday, November 11 at Coronation Park in Ormskirk and HMS Ringtail Monument in Burscough.
