THE ‘Young School Leaders’ at St Anne’s Catholic Primary School in Ormskirk’s idea for a Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds garden has been put in place.
Last year’s ‘Young School Leaders’ were tasked with thinking of a gift they could leave the school, and they decided to design a garden area for children to grow their own food.
St Anne’s curriculum teaches children all about the importance of being physically healthy and also the importance of being mentally healthy.
The pupils also wanted a space where children and families were able to relax and enjoy time together.
The parents at St Anne’s continually support school life and the ‘Young School leaders’ were “thrilled” when one of our families, Mr and Mrs Harvey from ‘SeftonSurfacing Ltd’, offered to help with the design and all the ground works.
The garden area is continually developing thanks to the help and support of another parent, Mr Jones, who is stocking the garden areas ready for the spring vegetables to grow.
Philip Bates, headteacher at Saint Anne’s Catholic Primary School said: “All children in school are looking forward to being able to spend quality time in St Anne’s ‘Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds Garden’.”
