A MOTORCYCLIST has died following an accident on a country road in Aughton.

Police say the 61-year-old rider, from Bootle, crashed into a field off Bowker’s Green Lane shortly before 7.40pm on Friday, May 13.

It is believed he lost control of his Suzuki GSF 600 bike after failing to negotiate a left-hand bend.

The motorcyclist was treated at the scene by a team from the North West Ambulance Service and was taken to the Royal Aintree Hospital where he sadly died.

The man was travelling with two friends when the collision happened.

His family have been informed and are being supported by a Family Liaison Officer.

Sergeant Marc Glass, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “An investigation has commenced to establish the cause of this collision.

“My thoughts are with the man and his family at this difficult time.

“In the coming days we will be speaking with witnesses and conducting CCTV enquiries in the area. If you witnessed the incident and have not already spoken to police, please get in touch as soon as possible.

“Further, if you were driving in the area at the time of this incident and have any dashcam footage we would ask that you please contact us.”
