Plans revealed to tear down pub and build houses

A FORMER pub in Formby could be torn down and replaced with 12 houses.

Plans have been submitted to Sefton Council to demolish the closed down Royal, on Liverpool Road, and build a housing development.

Davos Property Development say they want to make use of the space currently occupied by the pub as well as its car park and beer garden.

The planning application states: “This proposal provides a 12 high quality dwellings that sit well within the surrounding context.

“The design takes inspiration from the sites surroundings and uses modern techniques and architectural devices to enhance the sense of form and provide interest and depth to the façade treatments of each plot.

“The proposed development contributes to the much needed provision of new housing in the borough and provides an enhanced offer to the market based on detailed market analysis and demand.

“Careful consideration has been taken at every stage of the design process to create a dwellings with substantial design value to compliment the surrounding area.

“This, taken with the comprehensive design approach referred to elsewhere in this document, has resulted in a well thought out scheme that is worthy of support.”
