MORE than 2,000 villagers and visitors enjoyed the first Newburgh Fair to be held since before the pandemic on Saturday, June 18.

A thumping performance by the Batala Mersey Band kicked off the procession with children’s highly decorated floats portraying this year’s theme of the Magic of Books.

The Rose Queen Macey Birch rode on her own float attended by a bumper number of 21 Rose Attendants and Rose Buds.

“It was so rewarding to be back”, said Fiona Casey, chair of the Newburgh Fair Association. “We had lots of attractions to enjoy ranging from Punch and Judy to Morris Dancing as well as community participation activities like line dancing, wacky games and of course the famous waggy-tail dog show.”
