Councillor fired up over deliberate blaze started in Ruff Wood

by Henry James (June 2022)

people who deliberately started a fire in Ruff Wood, Ormskirk have been slammed by a county councillor.

Cllr Nikki Hennessy had to call Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service to deal with the incident on the evening of Tuesday, June 28.

She said: “I called the Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service this evening as a fire had been deliberately started in Ruff Wood and whoever started it just walked away.

“The reprobates even brought their own kindling! Yeah, they took their own wood to the woods!?

“We tried to put it out but it continued to smoke, it obviously wasn’t going out easily.

“It wasn’t long ‘til my favourite blue light service came to the rescue.

“I appreciate no one’s life or property was at risk but Ruff Wood is a favourite local beauty spot for families and dog walkers.

“The thought that people actually plan willful destruction of Ruff Wood really annoys me.

“I will ask if we can get signs up to deter this senseless activity. Please report if you see anything.

“I also want to say a big thank you to Ormskirk firefighters.”
