A MINER’S son who became a globe-trotting sales director, has penned a book about his life- and how he became good friends with Sir Ken Dodd!
Geoff Williams, who has lived in Southport for around 40 years, has published his autobiography called ‘Made in Wales’, in reference to his upbringing in Llay, near Wrexham.
His work as a cable salesman has led to him rubbing shoulders with a number of star names, including Sir Ken Dodd, singing superstar Sir Tom Jones, Hollywood actors Richard Burton and Jack Nicholson and Kop hero Bill Shankly.
His book details some of his fascinating tales and how he met and became friends with many famous faces.
He said: “I have met several celebrities during my 30 years travelling the world including Richard Burton and Jack Nicholson.
“The book is, of course, a biography of my life, from very humble beginnings to finishing up in Hollywood and Beverly Hills. I am also proud of my long association with my late friend Ken Dodd that I will treasure for the remainder of my life.”
Geoff is proud of being a Welsh miner's son and has fond memories of growing up in Llay, which at the time was a strong mining community.
His gift-of-the-gab led to a hugely successful career as a cable salesman with companies Pyrotenax and BICC.
‘Made in Wales’ has been published with the help of experienced memoir writer Caroline Brannigan.
The book is available for sale at Broadhurst's Book Store in Market Street.
