YOUNGSTERS from a local youth project have been praised for their efforts raising  funds for Ukrainian refugees.

The National Citizenship Service group is a four-week programme for 15-17 year olds allowing them to engage in personal development and their local community.

They held a recent sponsored walk along Crosby beach to raise funds for the Ukrainian Refugee Donation Centre based at Blundellsands Methodist Church.

Sefton Central MP Bill Esterson was invited to meet with the group. He said: “I was really impressed when I met the NCS group.

“It is fantastic to see young people in Crosby getting involved, making a difference and helping Ukrainian refugees in their hour of need. What a fantastic project.”

The Ukrainian Refugee Donation Centre in Crosby provides services for Ukrainian refugees living in Crosby, such as a free shop, an infant nursery scheme and English classes.

Donations they need include food, first aid, toiletries, clothes and entertainment.
